Curiouser and curiouser, Reuters released the first cropped image about 11 hours ago, then five hours ago they released the un-cropped version of the same image with the same highly biased caption:

Pro-Palestinian activists hold down an Israeli commando on the Gaza-bound Turkish ship Mavi Marmara in the international waters of Mediterranean sea early May 31, 2010. Israeli marines stormed the Turkish aid ship bound for Gaza on Monday and nine pro-Palestinian activists were killed, triggering a diplomatic crisis and an emergency session of the U.N. Security Council. Picture taken May 31, 2010.

Yeah, the thing is, beating, taking and holding people at knife point is called, say it with me now, abduction. Also, “stormed,” really? Stormed with paintballs and bad intel maybe. They attempted a boarding, a routine maritime event, and got pipe mugged by a goon squad.

Also, I notice that there’s a lot of variation in the ratio of Reuters images, but only a relative few modern digital chip and output formats. A lot of cropping going on, which is fine when it doesn’t skew the information being presented and hide the truth.
