I just made a heck of a Black Friday deal. A guy who used to own a bike shop was having a yard sale, including lots of dead inventory. I looked around for a bit, and said, “How much for everything on this tarp?” He hemmed and hawed and looked through the stuff for a bit, and said “$250”. I said, “if you throw in that pile of tires, done.” He said “Done.” Then he started looking again, saying, “Oh, not that! Not this!” and “You meant just the bike stuff, right?” And I said, “No, I meant everything on the tarp.” I let him take back one thing that I knew he told someone else was $100. Then he started looking through a box of stuff I had said I didn’t care about. He was reminiscing over it, and ended up OK with the deal including that box, especially when he thought about how happy his wife was going to be when she saw all that stuff was gone.

I think I can quadruple my investment, at least. And Mr. w got a microscope.
