re: #289 Skip Intro

I’ve downloaded some sample Geology textbooks from Amazon to my iPad. The things are impossible to read, and my eyes aren’t that bad. There’s so much color and tiny text set against less than optimum background colors that you have to zoom every page, then slide it around to read it.

The other thing is they cost just about the same as real textbooks, and real textbooks can be sold back, so I guess I’m missing the point.

Sounds like they just plopped the tree book format into an ebook without considering format issues. Text books designed for iPads should solve the readability problem. But they’re charging the same for ebooks as textbooks? That’s just… evil. I suppose I was in wishful thinking land because in a sensible world ebooks would solve a lot of problems.
