It does not have to be ‘as extreme’ for my statement to work. What was saying is that the anti-gun side’s far end drives its actions, not its moderates. The same is true on the pro-gun side. Which far end is further out matters less than the fact that the issue is driven by those far ends.

I know you’d like for them to be equivalent, but this is another area where the fringe left doesn’t have control over Democrats like the wingers do of the Right. There are lots of Democratic gun owners. There is no legislation anywhere that is pushing to have every gun restricted, while there are plenty of attempts to have guns in just about every location.
