The guy who got killed was the meanest man in the County. Just a nasty bastard. The site of the murder was a homeless camp out near Lakeway. The dead guy would routinely flash a Buck knife to show who was boss. Drunken night, an argument, and the perp had enough, and lashed out with an axe when the victim pulled the knife on him.

Pitiful case, actually. The killer had a DUI on his file, but no history of violence.

He got 25 years. I pushed as hard as I could for a shorter sentence, but it’s Texas.

I thought it was a travesty.

Should have shot the guy. His sentence would have been lighter. //
