re: #240 The Sanity Inspector

Believe it or don’t, we actually do care quite a lot about the poor, the blind, the sick, the lame, and the halt. Our fear is that our nation will be financially ruined AND that the goals of the bill will not be met in the end anyway. Like so many of LBJ’s Great Society programs just amounted to flinging money out of the back of a speeding train, and did not ease the ills they were supposed to address.

Sanity, that would be easier for me to believe with a whole heart if so much of the argument even here did not consist of insisting that the poor, the blind, the sick, the lame and the halt did not even exist. That it was their ‘choice’ not to have access. That they DID have access. If I hadn’t watched people nearly scream through the Internet that they owed no one nothing, and people could take care of themselves. If I was not seeing right now, people lying through their teeth across America tonight, insisting that this is legalizing federal funding for abortion.

I’m seeing a lot of lying happening, and pace LGF, less concern for fellow Americans than I’d like to see.

And that’s making it hard for me to examine sane fiscal and social concerns separately from all of this.

I am trying.
