She wanted him treated as if he was present military.

Fine, bring him up on UCMJ charges of Contempt for Officials and Conduct Unbecoming an Officer and a Gentleman.

And “military” or “veteran” doesn’t give a person some automatic insight into the truth of a matter, or blind adoration.
