For me, the question is and remains: What would converting to metric actually accomplish?

I know in construction it would probably be a pain in the ass for a while because a lot of building codes, including things like requirements for the ADA are based on standard measurements rather than metric. For example, standard door sizes are 3 feet wide. If you change to metric, now you’re at (checks internet) 91 cm, which makes basic calculations more difficult. If you adjust to 90 cm or 1 meter then you can’t use existing materials and everyone in manufacturing has to change their stuff.

Import and export works be more available to US. Standardized tools. Globally. Not being in metric limits US.

I’m dreading it because it’s a hard conversion at my age. But great good and all.
