No. It is either too early or too late to think of guns. Let things calm down while more info is developing. Anything really threatening would take a good bit more time than the fools realize, and will have to ramp up visibly.

More important is your environment. Get into a trustworthy community relationship that includes organizations outside the Muslim circle. Form alliances and self-support groups. Get a realistic evaluation of the reliability of your police force. People are your protection.

Only if everything is clearly going to shit, think first of moving to safer areas. Guns are a last resort, and require determined training or they are worthless.

I’m still freaking out a bit, but not as much as I was the past few days where I was just completely out of control.

My only saving grace is the solidarity with my Latino, LGBT, Asian and black friends in times like this. We need unity, and hopefully this will spark even broader understanding and to watch our backs.

Thanks for injecting some much-needed reality to my fear-laden comment. It has never happened to me like this before, ever.
