i get just so weary.
i want to say “yeah and they deprived you of buying exactly what?”
but these insightful and clever retorts dont move the needle at all.

so inside my head i shake my head and move on to something i can have a positive effect on (like watching i dont dangle my participles)

Stunk and White have no problem with dangling participles. They note the long history of participle-dangling from famous writers in the English language. (You did drop the apostrophe from “don’t” /pedant).

The clever retort mightn’t move the needle with the person to whom it is aimed, but it might move it with a third person overhearing that.
