Yesterday we had a thread about Marty Parrish, the guy who claimed to be a Southern Baptist minister and asked McCain about calling his wife a rude word. I wrote to his minister. Here is his response:

Marty Parrish was never ordained by any church as far as I know. His membership is in the church and when he was a teen-ager he made a committment to become a minister. After being away for many years, He recently returned for a few weeks, but has not been in the church for several months.The church at that time (more than 30 years ago) issued a liscense which is no more than an acknowledgement that he had made the committment to be a minister. he did not serve at any southern baptist church that I know of and is not nor has he ever been a minister at our church or any other at this time. He is not an active memberof FBC West Memphis. He is a very sick man. I regret what he said and that it has become news. I especially regret that he is claiming to be a member of the church. I am his pastor and I care for him, but he does not represent our church in any way. Ron Kirkland, Pastor
