Even if he flipped parties, I don’t think Democrats are going to accept him (and they shouldn’t given that he’s a bona-fide conservative other than him not punching Obama in the face when he visited NJ). Popular governor of a blue state, very boisterous and would be a good at attacking an opponent…easily see him being a VP pick.
