It’s so pathetic. And the base just ate it up. My one wingnut friend who I never knew to have any real problem with transpeople started posting Shapiro’s bullshit anti-trans screeds. Needless to say, I stopped following him on FB since every day was some kind of bitchfest at someone for not conforming to his standards for gender identity.

When James O’Keefe came out with his edited Planned Parenthood videos, the news about them (but not the debunking) was an instant hit here. Constant pushing in the paper and on the local FOX station about “baby parts.”

I went into the store in Sidney where I usually buy cigarettes, and out of the blue the owner launches into a hatefest about Planned Parenthood selling baby parts. (Our nearest Planned Parenthood is in Cheyenne, over 120 miles away.)

I tried to push back against the nonsense, but the store owner was convinced: It had been on television, the radio, and in newspapers. Everything covering the story here was “Planned Parenthood accused of selling baby parts.” Who would the person believe, one Democrat from sixty miles away, or the entire media telling her differently?

All I could do was tell her that from now on I would take my business elsewhere. I have not been back to that store.
