The fact is the deck was “stacked” against Obama in 2008 every bit as much as it was against Bernie in 2016. A smarter candidate who connected with people of all backgrounds who had a significantly (really REALLY significantly) better campaign operation with much more intelligent advisors was able to overcome that.
