Of course we do, have you forgotten the Clinton budget surpluses? There is nothing wrong with deficit spending as long as the economy is growing over time; the US has been in debt for nearly two centuries.
There’s nothing wrong with inflating one’s way out of debt as long as the economy grows at a rate that exceeds our debt obligation, relative to our total production. That’s a very fine line - it’s not the simplistic issue right wingers make it out to be, but we need to watch ourselves.
