My favorite ssm conspiracy theory is that its an evil plot by liberals to destroy the family so that the government will have absolute power, because once ssm is legal it will so trivialize marriage that heterosexuals will quit getting married. I told the wingnut that even Dr. Evil would think that plan was stupid.
