Funny. I’m thinking this way:

A concern of mine is that America’s fundamentalist rural voters may turn the country back from modernity—-and search for scapegoats when the chickens come home to roost.

Good luck to the American people.

Fundamentalism is more prevalent in rural areas of Turkey than in the United States. The US government is also, despite all the DERP, still more responsive and far more honest than Erdogan’s government. That helps keep desire of radical change down. Turkey’s risk of successful fundamentalist revolt is a good deal higher than our own.
