It’s just straightforward fusing and slumping. A typical piece takes multiple firing cycles, with some elements created separately and then fused together in an iterative process.
For example, the Mauna Kea piece: the moon and the turtle are beads made individually, as is the frit lace that makes up the lava flow. the various flat elements - sea, land, sky, and mountain - were fused together in stages along with some shading provided by frit powder and glassline paint, and then the lace and beads were added in a final firing cycle.
