Which is precisely the thing that fear mongering over a Muslim fifth column and creeping sharia is designed to deflect Americans’ attention from.

Either that or itself projection on the hand of many in the American religious right. Ironically enough it sounds many of them tried to get Muslims to join forces with them at one point.

Another far-right Roman Catholic ideologue (and also an academic) even wrote a book calling on Christians, Jews and Muslims to join together in a jihad against the secular West. In “Ecumenical Jihad: Ecumenism and the Culture War” a former friend of mine, Peter Kreeft (a professor of philosophy at Boston College), called for “ecumenical jihad.” “Ecumenical Jihad” was dedicated to Richard John Neuhaus, the late Roman Catholic convert priest, and to the late Charles Colson (who later teamed up with George to author the “Manhattan Declaration”).

How much you want to bet that our old “counter jihad friends” Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer would desperately deny this, if it was ever brought up, or at least try to come up with some reason why Muslims were somehow “un-American” for not joining forces with them?
