It would be easy to place this object in a church in the area. There are many.

I don’t know as putting it in the museum is a terrible idea, though. It’s a legitimate part of the history of the event, and was imbued with significance by many people. I get that the objecting group wants some sort of equal representation, and that sounds good, but I’m not sure what they’re envisioning. As far as I know, no other faiths or lack thereof have laid claim to large symbolic pieces of steel. If they want a display showing the impact of the event on different faith communities, that sounds good. Still not sure what the atheists would want to put in, except for maybe names.
