I know, that was much of the criticism of Bush’s plan for the moon. However, if we wish to move beyond the moon, we need to make sure we have everything working, as well as work out the bugs. The Saturn V is dead. The tools for its manufacture have been destroyed. We are rebuilding a deep space rocket from scratch.

And the fact is, this is actually going past ‘69 from what I’m reading. There are some clear Mile stones they are setting down from an Engineering point of view and getting us to an Asteroid and then Mars.

We’ll have to wait and see what they reveal. But if we have to go to Point B (moon) in order to get to Point C (Mars), then nobody should be complaining about going to the Moon again.
