I was around in that era , and yes those accusations flew and still do . Manson added to these myths , and an Army Capt. I believe his name was Donnely , killed his wife and two kids and blamed it on some “long haired hippies ” that wandered into his home and decided to viciously stab tyo death his family ….he survived though ,heh heh ……he’s still in jail , claiming innocence .
The same mind-fucked people have managed to reproduce , thus another generation comes up blaming the hippies for just about everything bad in society . There were in fact radical groups like SDS , Weatherman , Black panthers , Symbionese Army who were violent , but made up[ an infitesimally small part of the people who would be called hippies . LOL…..one of those radicals who encouraged groups like SDS , was none other than David Horowitz who wrote for Ramparts Magazine , now is the owner of Front page Magazine . He repents of his “hippie-ness ” but in reality never was one .
