I hate saying it but the longer the shutdown went on, the easier it would have been to pull the illegals against the troops bs. And it could have had some impact. I understand the frustration and I don’t blame anyone who voted no and I sure as hell don’t trust McConnell but I think we got some pressure on the bastard.

Illegals vs. the troops wouldn’t have been nearly as devastating as illegals vs. the uninsured children dying during a worse than normal flu season (ignoring the fact that our ability to respond has been damaged by the Republicans).
