As you said, you don’t know how much potential bearing this has on American politics: was the Canadian conservative movement taken over by racist, misogynist, anti-abortionist, creationist, gun-nut neanderthals who lived in an echo chamber made up of their own news sources and bloggers?

Did they write off enormous blocs of the Canadian populace as being too dependent on government largesse to have any interest in their message?
