If we don’t do something to fix the glaring inequities in this economy, the pitchforks are going to come for us. No society can sustain this kind of rising inequality. In fact, there is no example in human history where wealth accumulated like this and the pitchforks didn’t eventually come out. You show me a highly unequal society, and I will show you a police state. Or an uprising. There are no counterexamples. None. It’s not if, it’s when.

Several people and I have been discussing this very possibility.

I hope the rich folk and the politicians are aware they allowed a lot of people to stockpile guns. Sure, some of them are in favor of Trump and Republicans right now, but when (if) they find out how they have been screwed over backed into a low income corner with no way out, they will come for them.

Also, a good portion of the military is in the same boat economics wise, and they continue to be squeezed too. They too might join into any uprising, or maybe not respond to any calls to stop it.

I don’t think gated communities are going to be safe. Leaving the country and not coming back may be the only way out.
