re: #297 cannadian club akbar

Having done many exercises over many years, may I be bold enough to offer some recommendations?

6 miles a week is only 1 mile a day. Unless you are very out of shape, that will not be very strenuous as we humans are built to be very efficient walkers.

If you are not a physical laborer (say 8 hours a day lifting), chances are good that you are no where near close to physically exhausting yourself with your walking. I don’t know how much time you have per day to spend on exercising, or if you have other physical limitations, but a good 3-hour exercise session per day is not unheard of for good health - just ask us gym-rats! If it is at all possible, look into trying more walking, some strength training, and then some other form of enjoyable physical activity (say dancing?) during the day.

Also, be careful not to exercise too close to when you go to sleep. Generally I try to finish exercising at least 6 hours before I need to sleep. If I lift weights too late in the evening I can’t get to sleep at night.

I will second SixDegrees’ suggestion. Relaxation exercises have proven beneficial to me in the past.
