The right-wing Christian obsession with Israel is really creepy, especially since it seems to be based on some fairy-tale idea of Israel as some Biblical fantasy land. I never get tired of mentioning to nutters that Israel has a left-wing, allows openly gay people to serve in the IDF, and has universal healthcare (which Romney dimwittedly praised on his trip there last summer).
