re: #300 goddamnedfrank
There seems to be a phenomenon where reform movements over time tend to become increasingly co-opted by an accumulation of interests unrelated to their original inception. Decentralization speeds this process, as does any lack of focus or adherence to a clear, concise, single cause of action. As such Occupy Wall Street didn’t last long before it became a smorgasbord of fringe liberal causes. My theory is that BLM (at least the semi-official MBL org) held out somewhat longer because the original focus was much better defined and as a black dominated movement it was for some time better situated to resist the accretion of assorted proglodyte nonsense. Now that era seems to be over.
And a lot of people have an interest in seeing BLM become subverted and dream of the day when it can be branded an “extremist” or “hate” group.
