At least Reagan had a record of public service and some idea of how government functions, how to delegate and how to work with governmental bodies and agencies, how to shape and implement policies and decisions.

(Not that I agreed with any of it.)

All that is lacking in the current administration.

Reagan’s past as an actor also helped; it let him project a kind of sunny confidence and hopefulness.

Trump is just bitter negativity and angry cynicism.
