Romney is the face of the Republican party as it wished it could be. Remember what I wrote earlier about “face” in Japan? Mitt Romney has a tinge of that idea in his own practice of politics, that is, the appearance publicly of oneself is as important as anything else.

Many never-Trumpers wish dearly that Mitt was the leader. Proper on the outside, but just as atavistic on the inside as the next religious right senior.
