Many middle and high schools do have security forces to deal with excessively unruly students. Typically teachers and/or principals can handle discipline on grade-schoolers, so the added expense of having an onsite security force isn’t a priority - especially for cash-strapped school districts.

I submit in many places we have that priority wrong. I’m sure there are places where it would truly be a waste. But looking at LAUSD where I live? And the news? I think it should be far more common, if only for the outside threats that can barge in. We just had an armed jewelry robbery go bad & then spill into a college in Fullerton. It could have been an elementary school.
