And then there’s the story of Wilmer McLean and how he lived in Manassas during the Battle of Bull Run and how Lee and Grant ended the war at his home in Appomattox. I’m not sure how accurate that is or if it’s just exaggerated legend.

He gets a mention in Ken Burns’ documentary, so I’m thinking its true.

Bruce Catton mentioned the story in his books as well, so yeah, “true”.
