re: #270 haakondahl

Well, the sooner we get that filthy addicting drug called OIL out of the very veins of Mother Earth, the better off we’ll all be.

Well there are several paths to that outcome:

1) We can induce a worldwide depression by going on a crash diet while embracing alternative sources that can’t energize our grid, thereby further exacerbating said depression. but we can feel good about ourselves as we see our lifestyles severly impacted and while developing nations simply see mass starvation because the petrochemicals we used to export to them are no longer available (let alone the trade drop off and cheap ag products they will no longer see from the developed world).

2) we could sin and actually participate in a few indulgences like building nuclear power plants while still using carbon based fuels as we transition to a new infrastructure. That, however, would soil our souls and piss off GAIA, thereby leading to our moral ruin and would require us to seek out a messianic figure to lead us into thinking we are doing the right thing as we do continue to do the wrong thing. Kinda like we have done to “solve” our “war on terror” moral stain.
