I think I’ve mentioned this before, but it’s funny to see the reactions I get from people here in the South when I tell them about having to deal with 40 below cold in the North.
When I was visiting my wife in Louisiana one January it once got cold enough overnight to have a bit of ice form on rain puddles from the previous day’s rain. I went out to do some shopping. The few people I met literally gaped at how little I was wearing (jacket, gloves and toque).
When I explained that where I came from the day would be unseasonably warm the expression changed from “disbelief” to “You’re Bigfoot, aren’t you?”
