Well I meant in the sense that one or both parents has an addiction- alcohol, drugs, whatever and the child. It’s definitely not meant as a slight on single mothers at all by me.

It would be good to have a general term for an upbringing in chaos, or a series of terms distinguishing the kinds of chaos. I didn’t think you were using the term incorrectly, I just wanted you to have the history and nuances behind it.
