They get briefed by the Fed all the time now.

The Fed Chairman answers to the President and nobody else. The Board of Governors at the Fed answer to the Chairman and nobody else. That is the way it needs to be if we do not want Monetary Policy to become a political football. Trust me on this. Great lengths have been taken over the years to keep the Fed out of politics.

You can use the treat of audit to “clean house” unless politics gets played. You will lose the high quality of professionals that you have at the Fed and will replace them with political hacks if this gets done.
