The state of New York casually told me I owed them $12,000 for not getting workers comp insurance for my poor beleaguered workers.

I’m my only worker, and I own 100% of the company, so I don’t actually have to get worker’s comp.

I really wish they could send out a letter asking “Are you a sole proprietor/own 100% of the stock of your company?” before they send one saying “You owe $12,000!” It would ease up my heart.
