we’ve been over and over it
and it’s been gamed out every way the smart people can think of (lgf)

unless he wins reelection, his term ends on 1/20/21 at 12:00 noon
even if no one else is sworn in
there is no mechanism for him to ‘stay in office’ / refuse to leave

if the election is anywhere close, he would have to make many, many legal challenges - not just ‘one’. Because there is not just one election. They are administered by states and run by counties (where the counting takes place)

I wish I could agree, but Trump has shown amazing ingenuity about exploiting the weakness of US laws to his advantage, and he’d almost certainly still have the entire GOP behind him, or most of it even if some of them do take a stand — which is almost unthinkable at this point.

I’m not feeling all that comforted knowing that the laws are against him, to be honest.
