I saw the former of those two on Jan 1. Some channel ran “Kaiju New Year” or something like that and showed most of the 1990s Godzilla movies. A somewhat neat mix of Godzilla and giant robot stuff since it appears Japan was spending a lot of their military budget in that time period on various giant mechanical attempts to stop Godzilla.

Heh. Years ago, I had a Ranma 1/2 VHS, Japanese w/English subs, and in the case, there was a fake newspaper. One of the articles mentioned a police chief saying, “Yes, it’s unusual when a giant panda has a kung-fu battle with a redheaded girl, but it’s also unusual when a 150-meter tall radioactive amphibian pops up of Tokyo Bay, but it does happen from time to time.”
