I think they don’t really get the being feared by everyone is not necessarily a good thing. Ruling by fear is terribly, terribly expensive, and you can never, ever relax. How do you think China would respond to us overtly trying to frighten them into compliance?

The crazy thing is, wingnuts seem to think everyone else will respond in exactly the opposite way from how we, or pretty much everyone, everywhere, in every era has responded.
