Goes back to ‘38 and ‘68 from what I understand. I’m thankful that Slovakia’s President is a liberal. My family in the SR are Slovak nationals but not ethnically so when President Caputova speaks in Rusyn, it’s like when Spanish is spoken here.

If my Sudetendeutsch maternal Grandmother had not emigrated to the US around the turn of the last century, she would have been deported from Czechoslovakia at the end of WW2.
