I suppose it depends on where you live and how large your school district is.

These days a lot of states are held in thrall to Texas and their dumbass revisionist history about the slave triangle trade, or states working as hard as they can to insert the Bible or creationism into public schools. Where they’re not doing that, they’re infiltrating schools with Good News Clubs or downplaying science for explicit Christian indoctrination in schools.

Remember, the Flying Spaghetti Monster came about as a specific protest to Kansas trying to insert the teaching of Christianity’s god and a specific interpretation of creationism.

The triangle trade thing didn’t make it into the selected history books. And religion here in Texas isn’t any worse than it was when I was growing up in Abilene out in West Texas.
