I saw a FB post on this, read the linked CNN article, which also pointed to other studies which indicated that most people overestimate the age, and underestimate the innocence of black preteen and teen males relative to whites.

Then I looked at the top two comments on FB:

The first was “Teach your children not to break the law and to comply with police and you won’t have to worry!”

The second took CNN to task for posting the article, which would only serve to divide us more.

“Fucking hell,” I thought, “What’s the point?”

You can’t see a post from ESPN, CNN, or whoever without a bunch of clueless whites complaining about crying about “attempting to divide us.” There was an article today on the discrimination that many Dominicans of Haitian descent receive and I had to see that crap again. I had a nice conversation the other day with my SiL’s older sister about colorism. She had posted a video about how colorism is present in telenovelas (those Latin American Soap Operas FWIW). I told her that I flat out don’t get it. I for one don’t see my white skin and predominately European origins as proof I’m superior to anyone. It’s just what I am. My ancestors were predominately European. So be it.
