British Police Make Seven Arrests Following Attack at Westminster:

Authorities searched six addresses across the country with possible links to the suspect, police said. Police said that they believe the attacker, who was fatally shot by officers, was inspired by Islamist extremism but acted alone.

The vehicle plowed into the crowds on the bridge shortly before 3 p.m. and then drove onto the busy sidewalk in front of the gates of Parliament. Witnesses said the assailant then ran out of the car and rushed through the gates wielding a knife. The assailant fatally stabbed one of the police officers protecting Parliament before being taken down.

Mark Rowley, Metropolitan Police assistant commissioner, said that in addition to the police officer and the assailant, three people were killed on Westminster Bridge. At least 40 others were injured in the attack.
