re: #12 Shiplord Kirel, Friend of Moose and Squirrel

Still trundling along on the original Dr. Who. I’m up to episode 11 of the second season now. The first companion to drop out, the Doctor’s granddaughter Susan (Carole Ann Ford), was just written out in the previous serial. She was not killed off, fortunately, but left behind on 22nd century Earth so she could marry the local boy with whom she had fallen in love.
I am pleased to report that Ford is still with us, age 77; as is another original companion, William Russell (Ian Chesterton). Mr. Russell is now 93 years of age. The third of the originals, Jacqueline Hill (Barbara Wright) died in 1993. The series has not yet picked up a new companion, but will shortly in the person of Maureen O’Brien as Vicki. O’Brien is also still alive (age 74)..

I recall watching it as a teenager on PBS with John Pertwee and Tom Baker. Have not followed much of it since.
