Judge Clifton Newman, telling the courtroom, “There’s no amount of bond the court can set that can provide safety to Mr. Murdaugh and the community,” said he would also require Murdaugh, 53, a suspended lawyer, to have a psychiatric evaluation…

Newman said in making his decision, he considered whether Murdaugh, charged with two felony counts of obtaining property under false pretenses, posed a danger to the community and was a flight risk.
