But bin Laden is dead, and Iraq ended up costing al Qaeda more than it cost us, and they are less able to make good the loss. Their surviving leadership is scattered to the Four Winds, their rank and file (except in North Africa) has bled white, and they are hated everywhere. That is not victory.
