You know. I’m a gamer like many my age. I actually kind of think I value life a little more because of games. Yeah I’ve shot people in games. But I’ve also wanted to protect characters even if their life wasn’t important to a game’s outcome. I remember one game. Medal of Honor Frontline.

One level you parachute into occupied Netherlands during Operation Market Garden. Beautiful orchestral music is playing. One of your comrades has his shoot stuck in a church. You can’t save him. The soldier who survives with you, his life isn’t important to beating the level but I still tried to protect him.

I didn’t know about the guy getting stuck on the church until a couple of months ago, but it’s a real thing that occurred.
