The thought crossed my mind this morning that, as we are watching the religious wingnuts’ end-game scenario play out live, I wonder: What are they going to do now? They’re getting everything they ever dreamed of. This is the culmination of everything they have worked for for over half a century. Where do they go from here? Oh, I’m sure there’ll be the usual calls to repetition, “Make sure you keep voting Republican to keep those evil Satanic communist liberals from repealing your right to a Christian America,” but I wonder: Is that really going to motivate anyone anymore? They won. It’s over. Could it be the end of them?

They’ll move on to the next mountain. That will probably be the christianization or destruction of secular public education.
