I’m very sorry to hear about your feline overlord. I know how sad it is to lose an animal companion. Is she eventually going to be replaced with another feline overlord, or are you going to continue with Elder FO alone?

The younger one was added after Elder FO’s brother died in an attempt to prevent certain act-out activities Elder FO began doing that I ascribed to him no longer having another cat around. I got the younger one socialized into the apartment, but the relationship between them was more that of toleration rather than companionship.

So things are going to remain solo since at this point I don’t think bringing in a second cat will be beneficial to Elder Cat, and in fact would probably be more additional stress than he needs at his age.

Though I have threatened to bring in a kitten to drive him up the wall. (Having seen this effect when the kitten I had (named “Puck”) traveled for the Thanksgiving holiday to visit my brother and once there drove their adult cat to distraction with constant ambushing.)
